First Time Admissions

Choosing a school for your child can be a daunting prospect. We are always happy to hear from prospective families who would like to visit our school, or make an application for a place. We also invite families to keep an eye out for details of our Open Afternoon event in September.  Please contact us if you need any help or advice with admissions.

Children starting school for the first time will normally start on on the first day of the Autumn Term following their 4th birthday. Applications for first admissions must be made by January of the year in which the child is due to start school; any application received after the closing date will be treated as a mid-year admission.

Applications must be made to the child's home Local Authority - which, depending on address, may be Leicestershire, Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire.

The deadline for applications to Leicestershire Schools Admissions for first admissions in September 2025 is 15th January 2025 and parents/carers will be notified of the outcome of their application in April 2025.

Mid-Term Admissions

For mid-term transfers, please apply via the Learn Academies Trust admissions portal at apply.learnat.uk.  The school no longer processes midterm admissions through the Local Authority. If you have any questions or require assistance with your application, please contact the school office.

We fully participate in the Local Authority's coordinated admissions scheme. As per the School Admissions Code, all admitting authorities must aim to inform parents of their decision within 10 school days, and it is mandatory that a decision is communicated within 15 school days.

SEND Admissions

Bottesford CE Primary School is fully inclusive and admits pupils with SEND on an equal basis with other pupils. We do not refuse admission to pupils within the catchment area with SEND, or discriminate against out of catchment pupils on the basis of their Special Educational Needs.

For pupils with SEND support plans/EHCPs, the school will consult with the LA in determining admission and have regard to parental preference.
